What we bring and what it is for
Six materials, all from us. Choose by the job, not by the name.
Sand and gravel mix
Sand with fine gravel through it. For backfill under foundations, the bed under a floor and the base of a garden path.
Washed sand
Clean, with no clay. It goes into concrete, bricklaying mortar, plaster and screed.
Crushed stone
Broken stone with sharp edges. For concrete in foundations and slabs, the drive up to the house and drainage.
Gravel
Rounded river stones. For drainage round the house, garden paths and concrete.
Quarry stone
Big rough stones. Used to build stone foundations, retaining walls and fences.
Crushed granite
The hardest of the lot. For concrete that has to carry weight and for the spot where a car will stand.

How much a tipper load holds and how much to order
Our tipper brings up to 20 tonnes at a time. To know how much you need, work out the cubic metres first; we turn them into tonnes.
- Cubic metres: length by width by depth
- A yard of 10 by 8 m under a 15 cm layer of crushed stone takes 12 m³. A sand bed under foundations or a slab is worked out the same way.
- Tonnes: about one and a half per cubic metre
- That is roughly what a cubic metre of sand or crushed stone weighs. So the yard's 12 m³ comes to about 18 tonnes, a single load.
- Order a little over
- A layer settles when it is compacted, so more goes out of the heap than the tape measure says. Better a little left over than calling the truck back.
- Two materials, two loads
- Each material comes in its own load, so the sand stays sand. If you need more than fits, the truck comes again.
Where to tip it
The driver tips wherever you point. Pick the spot beforehand so you are not wheeling sand across the whole yard later.
Close to the work
Sand and stone for concrete next to the mixer, quarry stone by the foundation trench. Every extra metre means extra wheelbarrows.
On firm ground
A loaded truck is heavy: keep it off the lawn, freshly dug soil and the lid of a well or a septic tank.
Room around and above
Leave space for a wide heap that will not block the gate or the neighbours' way through. Keep the spot clear of wires overhead, because the body lifts.
Spread over the plot
If you want the material spread over the whole area rather than left in a heap, our backhoe loader comes with its operator to do it. We give its price on the phone.

Questions about tipper loads of sand and gravel
How much is a tipper load of sand?
An hour of the tipper with its driver is 3500 lei. What a load of our sand comes to with the delivery, we tell you on the phone: it depends on the sand and the address.
How many cubic metres of sand are in a load?
About 13 m³: that is the room taken by the 20 tonnes of sand our truck carries. The body holds 22 m³, but the load stops at the weight, not the volume.
Which sand is right for concrete?
Washed sand, as it has no clay in it. For foundations it is mixed with crushed stone or crushed granite; the sand and gravel mix is kept for backfill and beds.
Can you bring stone I bought somewhere else?
Yes, with the tipper by the hour, at 3500 lei an hour. Tell us where it is loaded and how much there is, and we will estimate the time.
How much crushed stone does a driveway need?
A drive 3 m wide and 25 m long with a 20 cm layer takes 15 m³, about 22 tonnes: a little more than one load. Give us your measurements on the phone and we will do the same sum.
Do you bring it out to the villages round the city?
Yes, for example to Vatra, Goian, Dănceni, Suruceni and Revaca, and further out to any district of Moldova. Tell us on the phone where your village is.
